Overview
In 2024, I served as Events & Logistics Facilitator for the ELCA Youth Gathering – “Created to Be” in New Orleans, Louisiana. Representing ELCA World Hunger, I helped support youth-facing engagement around some of the most urgent issues affecting communities today, including food crises, natural disasters, migration, and poverty in both national and international contexts.
My Role
My role connected event support, interactive learning, and resource development. I collaborated with Lutheran Disaster Response and AMMPARO to lead Interactive Learning Sessions designed to engage young people in issues of justice, compassion, and global responsibility. Regarding my consultancy agreement, I also drafted bilingual resource materials for the upcoming Youth Gathering, as part of my World Hunger scope of work.
Interactive Learning & Youth Engagement
This experience was especially significant because it placed young people at the center of meaningful reflection and action. These sessions focused on food crises, natural disasters, and poverty, helping participants connect faith with real-world challenges across local and global settings. The reported participation of more than 500 young people underscores the scale and energy of this engagement.
World Hunger & Generosity
The Youth Gathering also connected learning with generosity. Our ministry-profile materials report that participants raised $100,000 for the World Hunger Generation Zero-Hunger initiative, highlighting the gathering’s role not only as a formation space but also as a catalyst for concrete support and collective action. That combination of education, inspiration, and generosity makes this experience especially strong for your public-facing narrative.
Why It Mattered?
This project reflects an important dimension of your broader work: Helping create spaces where people, especially younger generations, can connect faith, learning, and action in ways that feel immediate and meaningful. It also demonstrates my ability to work across teams and ministries, translating complex justice issues into accessible, engaging experiences for large and diverse audiences.
