Overview
Powered by Faith is a national faith-based initiative designed to deepen relationships, align local and national organizing strategies, and build spiritually grounded responses to authoritarianism. Retreat summaries and planning materials describe the work as connecting moral clarity, organizing strategy, communications, and cross-faith collaboration in order to strengthen coordinated action across diverse communities and geographies.
My Role
My role centered on coalition coordination, convening support, communications workflow, and operational follow-through. The materials show me actively involved in retreat planning and participation, funder-facing coordination, contract and grant-process support, newsletter production, and follow-up with partner teams and fiscal-sponsorship structures. I also operate as a working lead and project-support contact alongside senior initiative leaders.
Convening & Retreat Coordination
A major part of this work involved supporting the Powered by Faith National Organizing Retreat in Chicago, IL. Draft agendas, logistics memos, evaluation forms, and retreat summaries show a project built around one-to-one relationship rounds, strategic workshops, communications planning, shared analysis, and next-step alignment. These materials also reflect support for participant logistics, agenda flow, documentation, and post-retreat follow-up.
Communications, Funders/Stakeholders Support, & Operational Backbone
This role also shows ongoing responsibility for key infrastructure behind the scenes. Meeting notes document my role in gathering articles, event details, and metrics for a monthly funder newsletter, with a transition plan that gave me full ownership of the process after the initial issue. Other materials place me in contract and grant-process workflows involving Amalgamated Foundation, proposal timelines, budget coordination, and grant-submission support linked to funders such as McKnight and Robert Wood Johnson, etc.
Why It Mattered?
This work reflects one of my core professional strengths: Helping mission-driven collaborations move from vision to execution. In this case, that meant supporting a faith-rooted initiative through the practical systems that make coalition work possible, agendas, logistics, communications, coordination across partners, and structures for contracts, grants, and shared strategy. The retreat summary itself emphasizes relationship-building, shared leadership, and aligning local energy with national vision, which closely matches the role I played in supporting the initiative’s infrastructure and early consolidation of this democratic initiative.
